Below is our letter addressed to the US Government.

A Message to: President Barack H. Obama,Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the
Members of the U.S. Congress

On January 6, drive-by Muslim gunmen killed eight Christians, and
left several more seriously injured in Nag Hammadi, near Luxor, as
they left the midnight Coptic Christmas mass. In the following days,
scores of Copts’ homes and properties in the area were ransacked and
burned. All along, President Mubarak’s security apparatus was clearly
complacent. Dozens of Copts are still under arrest for daring to
protest the abominable massacre.

The systemic discrimination against the Copts in Egypt makes their
daily lives an exercise in martyrdom. The escalating violence also
highlights the rise of Islamic radicalism. It is a direct result of
Mr. Mubarak’s policies, implemented through the government-run media
and education system, to out-do the Muslim Brotherhood’ agenda of
Islamizing the country. The consequences of an imminent Islamic state
in Egypt will be regionally and internationally catastrophic.

Mr. Mubarak, having been around since the days of President Ford, is
well practiced in the alchemy of dealing with various administrations.
One of his mantras is that he is the best alternative to rule Egypt.
He also prepares to have his own dynasty; an objective which,
paradoxically, requires the blessings of the “Islamic Street,” meaning
to expect even more violence against their Christian minority.

Mr. Mubarak has, personally, a legal and political responsibility
towards the Copts. They only demand internationally established
human-rights guarantees to live safely in their homeland as
full-fledged citizens.

We urge President Obama and the U.S. top institutions to speak-up
about the continuous abuse of the basic human rights of the Christians
of Egypt (Copts)

God bless.
